Breathing in, I find my calm.
Breathing out, I smile.
Being in this moment, I am grateful in knowing that I am right where I need to be.
Being present. It sounds so simple, but in my experience, it is one of the most difficult skills to cultivate in our hectic day-to-day lives.
For many of us, our default is to thrive on “busy” and to cultivate stress and worry. We live in a constant “not enough” mindset. When we wake up, we didn’t get enough rest. When we lie down at night, we didn’t get enough done.
We trick ourselves into thinking that our constant busy-ness is what gives our lives value.
We worry about the future, and we mentally count down the days til the “next big thing.”
If this sounds familiar, here’s my challenge for you:
Take a moment today to just be present. You can stop right where you are, or go to a special place (for example, being out in nature helps me to feel more grounded).
Slow down, notice your breathing, and repeat this mantra:
Breathing in, I find my calm.
Breathing out, I smile.
Being in this moment, I am grateful in knowing that I am right where I need to be.
Are you wrestling with worries, busy-ness, or stress?
